Get A Clue! 2027 Calendar Pre-Order Is Open
The Clue calendar project is finally complete!

It started with Mrs. White, with the Revolver, in the Conservatory. Except we were at Grandpa's Poolhouse, shooting with Brooklyn Ewing from Dirt Candy Productions.
And if we're being honest, it started years before, in childhood, when I fell in love with Clue, the iconic game of Whodunnit? We had the 1972 version of the game, and those images are the "real" Clue to me. I love the movie, I love all of the different versions, and I love that it's still a game that finds its way into people's game nights. The Fire Hall Theater is going to be producing the stage version of Clue this spring.
For those who are all business, let's get into the pre-order details. After that I'll give you more info about the calendar, how it came to be, who I worked with to create it, and some behind-the-scenes info that you can only get here on JanessaJaye.com!

As I mentioned, the 1972 version of Clue (pictured above) is the one that I grew up with and it really influenced how I thought about the game as I was planning the project. I loved that the room cards in this version were just a piece of wallpaper, a rug, etc., and then some sort of prop to represent the room.

This was definitely in my head when I started planning the series, and my annual trips to Grandpa's Poolhouse were a perfect way to get started! The vintage asthetic and the range of themed rooms were a perfect place to start! I ended up creating 3 of the characters at the Poolhouse, shooting with Brooklyn Ewing of Dirt Candy Productions: Mrs. White, Colonel Mustard, and Miss Scarlet.
The stars aligned for Mr. Green - a friend in Bismarck was opening a gorgeous new bar that was draped in gorgeous teals and greens - a perfect complement to a green outfit and a wonderful way to create a suggestion of the Billiard Room! I looked all over to find a place with a pool table that didn't look like a bar, and I just couldn't accomplish it! But one gorgeously upholstered barstool and a pool cue gave us the perfect vibe! Mr. Green was photographed by Ryanne from Studio 208!
Finally, we wrapped up the other two characters in one day - and it was a wild day! Miranda Roen of Roen Photography was absolutely up to the challenge! We started off with Mrs. Peacock and shot at both the Empire Theater and the Fire hall Theater. The Fire Hall was set to strike their latest production, and they actually held off until noon so that we could get there and shoot on the stage, which happened to be perfect for the Library! Then we changed into Professor Plum and headed back to the Empire where the gallery was a perfect backdrop for the Hall, and the velvet curtains on the stage made a perfectly lovely Ballroom!
The Seventh Weapon
The weapons in Clue (which originated in England under the name Cluedo in 1949) have changed a bit before settling on the 6 we know today: Knife, Rope, Revolver, Lead Pipe, Wrench, and my favorite, Candlestick. The original plan for the game included 9 weapons, only 3 of which made it into the 6: Dagger (Knife), Pistol (Revolver), Rope, Axe, Bomb, Hypodermic Syringe, Poison, Fireplace Poker, and Shillelagh.
For the 50th anniversary, Parker Brothers put out a special tin boxed version that brought in a seventh weapon: Poison.

I have that edition, and I wanted to include poison as part of the calendar. But how to do it? Well, there are 6 suspects and 12 months in a year...
That's right, I decided to shoot a different version of poison for each of the characters! Rat poison in a cocktail, a poisonous snake, suspicious beakers too close to the bourbon - each version of Poison is completely different and themed to the character!
I'm so excited that we are finally here! This calendar has been such a labor of love, and I'm glad that I finally finished it up and got it ready to send out to all of you!
