Gallery: Black & White & Color (Dirt Candy Productions)

It feels like the world is trying to take us back in time, stripping out all of the color. Holding on to our color and our sparkle is a radical act!

During my last shoot with Dirt Candy Productions, I wanted to get a few shots that I could use for Pride-related posts. I've been shot in every color of the rainbow, so I wanted to try something different: I had gotten this gorgeous black and white dress with a matching overskirt in a grab bag for $8 - seriously, EIGHT AMERICAN DOLLARS!

I thought it would be fun to pair this black and white dress with colorful Pride items. We live in world that is trying to make us less visible, less colorful, and force us to blend in. Holding on to that color and that shine is so important. Even if we're taking some steps backward, the arc of history always bends toward justice. (Theodore Parker, Martin Luther King Jr.)

Plus, it looked great with this fabulous vintage car that they have at the Poolhouse, and I had never shot with it before! I'm always discovering new setups and angles and backdrops at that place!

In addition to never having shot with the car, there is also a motorcycle in the basement! I'm not a big fan of motorcycles, but it felt like a wasted opportunity to let this gorgeous set piece go to waste!

It was fun shooting a comparatively simpler look for a change - it allowed the backgrounds and set pieces to become even more prominent!
