What Happens In Vegas…Check Out The Medusa Underground Film Festival Jan 11-13

If you are in the Las Vegas area (or would love nothing more than a winter getaway) and you love strange, wild, and wonderful films by independent creators, then I’ve got a fantastic event for you to check out!

Remember my fabulous interview with filmmaker Heidi Moore in Season 2, Episode 1 of Janessa After Dark?  If you missed it, or want to listen again, I’ll leave you a link right HERE.  Well, Moore has been working away on a fabulous film festival that’s all about female-directed films that don’t always easily fit into the typical Hollywood blockbuster categories that we’re used to.  Coming up January 11-13 in sunny Las Vegas, the festival has a little something for all lovers of indie film!

This isn’t your typical film festival; it’s a festival by filmmakers, for filmmakers that showcases strange and unusual films created by women.
Backstage Bar & Billiards is hosting the festivities on Friday, January 11 from 8 pm until 12 am.  There will be some amazing films to watch, some really cool vendors to shop from, and the event is totally free to go to.  They will also be collecting donations for Street Teens, a charity that helps homeless teens while they’re still in school.  How cool is that?!  If you want more information about this, you can check out the Facebook Event Page.
The festival continues on Saturday and Sunday at the Artisan Hotel.  Two days of films that span a wide array of types and subgenres, and there will be a mingling party on Saturday evening with DJ Entertainment provided by Cinema Therapy.  There may even be a few surprise events as well!  For more info on the main festival event, check out This Event Page.

And as if three days celebrating amazing films wasn’t enough, Moore also believes in creators helping and supporting each other!  Sunday morning will feature a networking brunch at the Thunderbird Boutique Hotel, hosted by Women in Media!  Participants will have an opportunity to get to know each other, network and talk about their upcoming projects, and learn more about the awesomeness that Women In Media has to offer!  Info on this brunch can be found HERE.
If you’re tired of the Hollywood machine churning out remakes and reboots and regurgitations of the same cinematic extended universe, or if you just want to spend some time with amazing people who do weird and unique and really creative stuff, you definitely want to check out this amazing event.
