Hello again Champagne Dreamers and welcome to another Face Friday inspired by Color Reveal Barbie. Did you ever imagine that this site would become a low key doll blog?! I have really been loving these Color Reveal Barbies; the quality of the dolls themselves isn’t great, but the mystery aspect of it is a lot of fun, the different themes are well thought out, and the matching accessories are just so colorful and cute! I decided to use another doll in the food series to inspire this week’s look, and I was super excited to see that...read more
I know, I know – I haven’t had a new episode of Janessa After Dark available for a hot minute…several hot minutes, in fact. But when Lethal Cosmetics came out with a new collection, including the After Dark palette, an early 90s neon meets pastel grunge, I knew that it was the perfect excuse to resurrect the “forgotten” project. #RealTalk: I haven’t forgotten about my podcasts, but as I’ve made the jump into YouTube, I’ve been busy learning about video editing and the workings of that...read more
Face Friday: Pastel Fantasy Inspired By Color Reveal Barbie, Feat. Lethal Cosmetics & Midas X Smokey Glow
Another Face Friday, another excuse to try to recapture some of my childhood by playing with toys. That’s right, Champagne Dreamers: we’ve got another Face Friday look inspired by the new Color Reveal Barbies by Mattel! I am seriously in love with these; the dolls are pretty basic and they don’t have the same presence as the queens of the 80s doll line did (I’m still living for Crystal Barbie and Peaches & Cream Barbie!) but I love the mystery element and having to turn the colors that are revealed into a makeup...read more
When I did my “12 Black-Owned Makeup Brands That AREN’T Fenty Or Pat McGrath” video a couple of months ago, I included a list of 4 bonus brands that I hadn’t ordered from yet, but was interested in: The Lip Bar, Mented Cosmetics, Propa Beauty, and Black Radiance. Well, yet has come and gone and I have had a chance to pick up products from all four of those brands! The products from The Lip Bar were actually on their way to me when I made the video (and have been reviewed, HERE), and this review is going to cover the...read more
Who doesn’t love a good surprise?! I watched NikkieTutorials recent video where she talked about being robbed at gunpoint (I know, I know – we’re starting dark, but it’s going to get better!) and she wanted to do some “makeup therapy” to help manage her emotions around that. What she came up with was a really fun type of challenge: she bought a Color Reveal Barbie, and let the look of the surprise doll inspire her makeup look! (I’ll include her video at the end of this post if you want to check it...read more
I’ve tried to make it clear before, but in case you missed it: we stan Juvia’s Place in this house. And we don’t stan anyone. When I saw that Juvia’s was putting out a full lip collection called the Nudes that included lipsticks, liners, and glosses, I was pretty excited. I have quite a few of their liquid lipsticks and the quality was pretty good, so I was interested to see how they did with more traditional tube lipsticks. I also have the two glosses from the Fumi collab, so I know that they can make a really...read more
If you haven’t tried Juvia’s Place eyeshadows yet…what are you even doing with your life? I’ve written a lot of reviews of Juvia’s Place in the past, and it’s a brand that I really do love. When I saw that they had a collection of four 6-pan mini palettes, I knew that they were going to end up in my collection. That was a given. So far I have every palette from Juvia’s except the newest palette, Wahala (Drama), and that order has been placed and is just waiting to ship (expect a review coming...read more
Face Friday: I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For This Ice Cream Gradient Look Feat. BH Cosmetics!
Hey fam! We took a little break last week, but we’re back with another fabulous Face Friday post. This time, I’m dipping into the new Sweet Shoppe palettes from BH Cosmetics. I bought all 6 (of course) but I used three of them to create a fun red to purple to blue look: Cherry on Top, Cotton Candy, and Bubblegum. Here’s the final look: I love a gradient look and I’ve been enjoying doing looks with two different color combos on the eyes (like I did with the Glamlite Pizza Slice “Meat vs. Veggie” post I...read more
Haus Laboraties: Is This A Celebrity Cash Grab, Or Does It Deserve Our Applause, Applause, Applause?
I didn’t get in on the Lady Gaga makeup brand, Haus Laboratories last fall when it launched for a few reasons. First, it was launching in partnership with Amazon and they were doing everything as a pre-order. I like Amazon (hey Prime shipping!) but I don’t love pre-orders of pretty much anything. I’ll grit my teeth and bear it for an indie brand. But when a celebrity with a platform like Gaga teams with a company with the resources of Amazon and still wants my money in advance? No thanks. Second, the products seemed a...read more
I admit it: I have such a soft spot for JenLuvsReviews! She’s one of those creators that just has great energy and is always lifting people up in the beauty space on YouTube. So when I heard that she was going to be having a collab, I was pretty sure that I would pick it up no matter what it was. When I found out that it was liquid lipsticks from Ofra, I was intrigued. I reviewed the Ofra liquid lipsticks once on the old version of this site, and was generally unimpressed. After they did their full rebranding and repackaging, I...read more
